This Project was one of the most challenging commissions we have ever undertaken.

Our clients were a partnership that included the celebrated Michelin star chef Atul Kochhar who has  an existing site in Berkeley Square that had just been fully re-fitted to an extremely high standard. Comparisons were inevitable so the pressure was on. 

Due to the drawn out acquisition of the site, the Christmas holidays and the launch date of the Colony being set as the 22nd February,  programme timing was extremely tight for all involved. A consequence was that all of the joinery and bespoke items that would normally be made in the workshop had to be produced on site.  The short time programme meant that good planning and constant consultation with the client and other suppliers was key to this Project being completed.  

The opulent bar area with its backlit Travertine marble, specialist peach mirrors and the curved walls that form the sharing booth and define the space that is the lounge were a challenge. 

The rest room areas were labour intensive being decorated to a very high standard.   They needed careful planning and programming due to the many different trades having to work within close proximity of each other. 

To meet the Completion Date, we worked around the clock, demanding from our suppliers an extra special service, one of which required deliveries on a same day order schedule.  

Our clients had a good idea of what they wanted, but together we consulted and planned the layouts and finished visions of the various areas, making hourly adjustments, where necessary, as we could not afford to make mistakes that may have caused delays. 

Co-ordination  and consulation was the key to this difficult Project.  We at London Heritage wanted to achieve a high level of finish and to satisfy the Clients’  expectations.  The Colony Bar opened on the planned date of 22nd February.  The Clients are extremely happy and we cannot ask for more than that.
