TREVOR STREET, LONDON SW7

Client: Private Individual

Our brief was to completely re-design the interior, adding improvements and additional space where LHD saw fit. The aim was to create a beautiful and glamorously-chic interior throughout the property. Also included within the works was the excavation and complete renovation of the front basement area and vaults, moving the utilities from inside the house to a much more appropriate and convenient area, leaving the house for living not laundering!

Our client had a window of opportunity to be away for the entire project time, which was the deal breaker. Could LHD complete the vastly complicated design within the 12-week window?! If not, then "no deal"...

The house was in very good order and had not long been decorated, so the easy option would have been to live and put up with the drab creation of someone else. We don't take the easy option!

This is probably LHD's most challenging project to date. Taking on a difficult, complicated and unknown excavation within a short time scale could have been disastrous, but with the aid of Westminster building control we completed that part of the project a week early.

The project has been a triumph in every area, from the beautifully crafted, Bauhaus-style, English Oak staircase to the wonderful introduction of natural light throughout, allowing the interior to naturally flow in a completely new way. Opening, moving and enlarging doorways and installing clean structural roof glazing has made the difference. Using our special talent and vision in lighting and energy flow made this one special.

We have been fortunate enough to have assisted in the furnishing of the house, introducing some of Patrick's (LHD owner) own personality, choosing vintage pieces from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 1970s. Our client had a natural talent for vision and decision, so the furnishing of the property was a pleasure.

We have created what we believe to be a fine interior that will stand the test of time. It was completed within a ridiculous time frame, for the set budget extending only at the request of our client.

We feel we made the impossible possible......
